How do I play a video on my car?
Connect your iPhone to CarPlay and open DashTV on the car screen. In the Browser tab, pick a favorite or type an address, or play a video in DashTV on your iPhone and tap Play on Car. Video shows only while parked; while driving you hear the sound.
How do I mirror my whole screen?
On your iPhone, open the Mirror tab, tap Mirror Screen, then tap Start Broadcast. On the car screen, open DashTV's Mirror tab. To stop, tap Stop on the car screen or the red indicator at the top of your iPhone.
How do I send a video from another app?
In YouTube or any app, tap Share, then DashTV. The video opens in DashTV and plays on the car screen.
Why doesn't the YouTube app's Cast button find my car?
Your car isn't a Cast device, so Cast can't find it. Share the video to DashTV instead, or use Mirror Screen.
Why is there no picture in the car?
Your car decides when video can show. Until then, you hear the sound.
Can I control playback from the car?
Yes. Play, pause and skip from the steering wheel, the CarPlay screen or the lock screen.
Why won't some streaming services play?
Paid services with copy protection only play in their own apps.
Part of the video is cut off, or has black bars.
DashTV fits each video to your screen automatically, and trims black bars that are part of the picture when it can. To choose yourself, tap the video on the car screen and pick Fit, Fill or Stretch, or set it in Settings under Aspect Ratio.
Why do websites look different on the car?
On the car screen, sites open in their full desktop layout, which fits a wide car display. On your iPhone they stay in their phone layout.
Can I type with my voice?
Yes. On the car keyboard, tap the microphone and say the address or search. Speech is recognized on your iPhone and isn't kept or uploaded.
Does DashTV block video ads?
Yes, with DashTV Pro. Ad blocking stops banners, pop-ups and the ads that play before and during videos on every site, with no setup.
A website looks broken.
With DashTV Pro, tap the shield in the address bar to turn ad blocking off for that site. The page reloads without blocking.
What's free, and what does Pro add?
Free includes 30 minutes a day of video and mirroring on the car screen. It resets at midnight. DashTV Pro adds unlimited video and mirroring time, ad blocking that includes video ads, looping and audio with the screen off.
I have a code. How do I redeem it?
In DashTV, open the upgrade screen and tap Redeem Code. You can also redeem it in the App Store under your account.
Does it work with wireless CarPlay?
Yes. DashTV works with wired and wireless CarPlay.
